Location: Pukekohe, Auckland
Industry: Residential
System Installed: 11.7 kW solar PV system with LONGi panels & Deye inverter
Installation Date: July 2025
Installer: Solar Hub NZ
Project Background
This customer was seeking a long-term solution to reduce their electricity costs. With rising energy prices and increasing awareness of the benefits of solar, they wanted a system that could deliver financial savings, environmental impact, and long-term energy independence.
After a comprehensive evaluation, Solar Hub proposed an 11.7 kW solar PV system tailored to the home's unique energy profile and roof orientation.
The Challenge
The installation required careful design to ensure optimal generation given the property’s available roof space. With both northwest and northeast-facing roof aspects, panel placement needed to balance output across different times of day. Performance modelling also had to account for standard system losses and grid export considerations.
The main challenge for Solar Hub was to deliver a system that maximised production, aligned with realistic consumption patterns, and provided clear and transparent projections for savings and returns. By focusing on accurate modelling and site-specific design, Solar Hub ensured the system would perform reliably and meet the customer’s expectations.
The Solar Hub Solution

System Specifications
Solar Panels: 26 x LONGi 450W panels, generating approximately 16,000 kWh annually.
Inverter: 1 x 10 kW Deye inverter
System Size: 11.7 kW.
Design & Orientation
Panels were split between two roof sections for optimal exposure: 17 panels facing northwest (Azimuth 317°), 9 panels facing northeast (Azimuth 46°), each with a slope of ~26–27°.
Environmental Impact
CO₂ Avoided per Year: 2 tonnes
Equivalent Car Kilometres Avoided: 173,303 km over system lifetime
Equivalent Trees Planted: 354
These figures were modelled at the time of proposal preparation and are intended as guidance. Future performance will be influenced by changes in household energy usage habits, export rates, weather, and site conditions.
By switching to solar, this Auckland household has transformed rising energy costs into lasting savings and positive environmental impact.
