An inverter (included with your system) then changes this DC into AC (alternating current) power—the type your home appliances use.

Your appliances will run on this solar power first. If more energy is needed, the extra will come from the electricity grid.
Any surplus solar energy can be stored in a battery for use at night or sent back to the grid.
